Hello Japan! August mini-challenge: Origami

Origami

I'm doing for the first time in Japan Hello. It is a monthly mini-challenge focused on Japanese literature and culture. Each month a new job that covers a particular aspect of life in Japan. This month is about origami.

For about one year I keep myself busy with regular origami. So I made the AVO Picnic of 2010 yukata and a bookmark for my friends who were marry I made a box with rings and envelopes of origami. And because I hate repeating myself in the, I am for the upcoming birthdays and holidays looking for something nice for friends and family. I call myself a professional, but I love me keep busy!

I have origami paper held, but before I really start training I fold paper folding, so that you can buy the little shop. That way you do not waste expensive paper if something fails and you can see if there are problems for you during the folding. You can quietly tinker with your folding leaf, until you come out and folding by you.

In September, a number of years and I'm looking around for nice original things that fit the person. To date I have no idea, but I have a sweet Sunday afternoon kept making fun items! But ultimately useful items.

When first I started with a paper clip holder, good in bright orange! Then I complete a box and a container made. I am currently working on making Lucky Paper Stars for my mother, but I was looking for a temporary place where I can store the captured stars. And finally I made some bookmarks with a heart on it. I put my yukata-bookmark alongside for comparison. I let myself particularly inspired by other blogs and sites origami. And I especially like to make things that are practical and easy shipping to penpals!

Such things I find so much nicer than bought gifts…

So I got my best friend a homemade “cake” our wedding. Entirely made of paper, and then stood there with little range of notes 5 euro , thought it was original done ! This I will remember much longer than the ( it also beautiful) cards we received .

And, you're right in. So I came with a box made with origami for my friends who were getting married. I had little money at that time, but she wanted to give something that they would not soon forget. :)

  3. Really nice stuff you’ve got there Fran! Why not give us some clues about your friends so we could help you brainstorm???

Like you I always use cheap mono-coloured paper to practice first. Vouwblaadjes. :)

Oh thank you very much Gnoe (I just reply in English, I hope it is no problem for my other readers, haha). Well first it is my mothers birthday on the 5th. She like flowers and candles. Also she likes Lucky Paper Stars ;)

My grandniece’s birthday is on the 6th, but she will be 1 years old. ;) My brother at the 16th, but I don’t think I will make him happy with some origami. = D

I got a small workshop of Sandy how to fold Lucky Paper Stars, it is not that difficult! I have watched your video and comment on your blog. I was very quick this time, hahaha! But it is a really nice video! Thank you for sharing it!

  5. Okay, ideas that pops into my head the occasion of the birthdays… For your mother if you're so busy (and then you ‘my’ flower gift to do ;)) but how about a string of beautifully colored kukusudama for children of 1-year? Or a combination of 1 á 3 in different sizes? Or a mobile with monochrome animals, possibly an ocean theme or different species of fish? Or with only a simple 2 regenboogpapegaaien?

Your brother is indeed hard. Maybe he finds a nice Hawaiian flower necklace or else you can make a tato (geschenkwikkel) with a coupon inside. Eg. 3x to be right, even though you find that he's not that, and for once take a tedious (such as washing, I do not think he wants you to clean up his room LOL).

Well, maybe you already thought something else. :) Enjoy all the birthdays coming period!
